About

Kay Gagnon is a contemporary abstraction & landscape fine artist working in printmaking and mixed media.

In 2023, in addition to painting tonal fine art landscapes, she began experimental printmaking with raw textile surfaces and gestural mark-making. Inspired by cyanotype, she began creating botanical monoprints using custom emulsions on raw cotton that gives an organic warmth and softness.

Now, working across canvas, wood panel, paper, and raw surfaces in a fine art practice that moves fluidly between abstraction, landscape, printmaking, and mixed media, there is a point of lyrical and poetic restraint and contemplation in her landscapes and motifs. Images are reduced to symbols and memories. She uses a subtly shifting, nuanced color palette aiding to an atmospheric and refined aesthetic.

She holds a B.A. in English and works from her home-studio.

Feautures: iO Literary Journal, Treehouse Mercantile, Quirk, Montpellier Art Center w/ VA Plein Air Painters, VA Eye Exhibit, and WLDWST.
